Law & Public Leadership
Pre-Law & Civic Leadership Pathway
High Tec Academy prepares students for careers in law, public service, and civic leadership through a structured pre-law pathway aligned with the University of New Mexico School of Law. Beginning in middle school, students develop strong skills in critical thinking, research, debate, and public policy to prepare for university study and future legal careers.
Focus Areas
- Interdisciplinary Pre-Law concentration (undergrad)
- Develop critical thinking, logic, writing, and communication skills.
- Combines courses from Philosophy, English, Sociology, Political Science, etc.
- Flexible course selection tailored to legal interests.
Career Pathways
- Prepares for law school application (not a law degree itself).
- Useful foundation for careers in law, government, policy, advocacy.
- Good preparation for legal reasoning, public service, litigation support roles.
College Readiness
- Must complete required courses with at least C grade.
- Recommended foundation courses include logic, math/statistics, communications, writing, social sciences.
- Encouraged to pair with minors or other supportive majors.
- Ideal for students planning law school or legal-related graduate study.
